How to read these terms

These terms cover two things: using pecan-riverbend.com, and asking Pecan Riverbend to do one of the three pieces of work described on it, namely the Nut Tree Suitability Consultation, the Guided Nut Planting Session and the Riverside Country Plot Layout Plan. They are written for the people who actually write to us: owners of an orchard patch, a riverside plot or a weekend house with some spare ground. If a line is unclear, ask before you rely on it. The contract details for a booked service (cancellation, payment, responsibility for results) are in the Terms and Conditions, and the information the Specified Commercial Transactions Act asks us to show is in the notice.

1. Using the website

2. What the services are, and what they are not

The consultation is an hour of talk with a written shortlist and a first-year care calendar. The planting session is about four hours on your land for up to six saplings, with aftercare notes for two years and a phone call after one month. The layout plan is a site visit of roughly three hours followed by a scaled drawing, annotated photos, a plant list and one round of revisions.

All three are advice and supervised work. They are not horticultural or engineering guarantees. Our timelines (grafted walnuts typically bear in years 4 to 7, grafted pecans in years 6 to 10) are ranges seen in ordinary practice, not promises for your plot. Nothing on the site is an offer of an investment, a harvest contract or an income. We do not describe nut trees as a way to earn money, and you should not read any page that way.

3. Prices and bookings

4. Weather, ground and rivers

Fieldwork depends on frost, rain, flood water and the state of the ground. When a river bank is soft or a track is under water we will propose another day instead of working in poor conditions. A date moved for these reasons is not a cancellation by either side and costs nothing extra.

Land near rivers in Japan is often covered by river management rules, and permission from the manager of the river may be needed before digging, planting or building. Applying for it is the landowner's job. We point out where it may be needed, but we cannot give you the permission or promise it will be granted.

5. Where we work

We are based in Toyama and our services are aimed at plots in Nagano and neighbouring areas. If your land is elsewhere in Japan, write to us and we will tell you honestly whether it makes sense for us to travel.

6. What belongs to whom

7. If the site is unavailable

We try to keep the pages online, but there may be short gaps for maintenance or because of the hosting service. A gap does not change a booking already agreed by email.

8. Changes

We may revise these terms when the services change. The date at the top shows the latest version, and a booking is governed by the version that applied when you agreed the quote.
