Pecan Riverbend
A man and a boy watering a young staked tree after planting

Offer 2 of 3 · ¥11,000 per session

Plant your first trees side by side with an arborist

A half-day on your own land that ends with young trees in the ground and the know-how to plant the next ones yourself.

Back to home

The promise of planting day

In about four hours, up to six saplings go into your ground the way they should: at the right spacing, in wide holes, with tidy roots, stakes, guards and mulch. You leave with a sketch of every position, written aftercare notes for the first two years, and the quiet pleasure of having done it yourself.

Planting can feel more delicate than it looks

A sapling is small, and the stakes seem high. How wide should the hole be? How should the roots sit? How much should you water in the first summers? Many owners hesitate here, worried about doing the one irreversible thing wrongly. Reading about it helps, but it rarely replaces seeing it done once.

Learning by doing, together

Our arborist works alongside you rather than in your place. Together we mark positions at the right spacing, dig wide planting holes, check and tidy the roots, set stakes and tree guards, mulch, and agree on a watering routine for the first summers. You handle as much as you like, and we step in where it helps.

It suits plot owners who enjoy hands-on involvement.

What the day looks like

  1. We walk the plot and mark each tree position.
  2. We dig wide holes and check the roots of every sapling.
  3. We set stakes and guards, backfill and mulch.
  4. We agree on a watering routine, then review your aftercare notes.

A month later we phone to see how the trees are settling and answer anything that has come up.

The investment

Per session

¥11,000

Included

  • On-site work, about four hours, up to six saplings
  • A planting position sketch
  • Written aftercare notes for the first two years
  • A follow-up phone call one month later
  • Travel within 40 km of our Toyama office (farther plots quoted in advance)

Saplings and materials are quoted separately in advance, so you will know the full amount before the day.

How progress is followed

We look at three simple things: whether positions follow the spacing plan (roughly 10–12 m for walnut and pecan), whether each tree is staked, guarded and mulched, and whether you feel comfortable with the watering routine. The one-month call checks on all three. Expect patience: formative pruning follows in the early years, and grafted walnuts typically bear in years 4–7, grafted pecans in years 6–10.

Our commitment to you

We will plant carefully, explain what we are doing and why, and quote everything in advance. If you are unsure whether your sapling choice or plot is ready, we will tell you before the day rather than on it. The Suitability Consultation is a gentle step beforehand if you would like one, and there is no obligation either way.

Next steps

  1. Send us a note about your plot and the saplings you have in mind.
  2. We reply with a saplings and materials quote and some possible dates.
  3. We plant together and start your two-year care notes.

Planting suits the cooler, dormant months and early spring, so there is plenty of time to prepare.
